What Do I Take The Hostess?

What Do I Take The Hostess?

Sooooo many wonderful blog articles and tweets are out there to show off the newest ideas for creative hostess gifts.  Me?  Generally I start with a bottle of wine, but lately I've been trying to mix it up a bit.  The best place to start for myself is to consider not only the event I am attending, but the person or family who is hosting.  And that's where the fun begins.  Then, pick a range to spend.  The nature of a hostess gift is to have it be a "small...thoughtful" kind of thing.  No need to spend much.  My latest fun little idea was sprung on a hockey-loving family at our last potluck.  Knowing how much time they spend loading up the family and driving long distances to games, I decided to take a tasteful brown bag with a handle, fill it with "road" goodies and then stuffed it out to make it colorful and festive.  A bow and a little cut-out note shared my intention with them and although quite reasonable in price, it was so appreciated and truly the thought that counted.  Remember, recognizing an individual or family for just who they are and what floats their boat says a lot about how much they mean to you.  And of course, we threw in a pair of dish towels for lap covers.  Always so appreciated.  My Motto:  Something they can always us again...and again...and again
